Michael McMahonMichael McMahon is a clinical Social Worker who has worked extensively in community mental health agencies.  He obtained degrees in Philosophy and Divinity before commencing  his professional career in 1975 as a clinical Social Worker working principally in state and commonwealth mental health agencies.  A substantial part of his clinical practice has focused on  issues related to directly assisting families in crisis.  He has worked for the Qld government as a generalist Area Officer and as a specialist Crisis Care worker.  He later pioneered the Social Work role in the Brisbane Mater Children’s Hospital’s child abuse unit.  Subsequently, he worked for over ten years as a Family Court counsellor and has been employed as a counselor with the Veterans and Veterans’ Families Counselling Service since 1995.  His combined degrees in Philosophy, Divinity and Social Work give him unique insights into the importance of integrating the moral and psychological dimensions of personal identity into therapy.
